‘We will do our own job’ Lebea promise the community.

Speaking amid the community protest for service delivery this morning, he reassured the community that the mayor will tell them the exact dates when the construction of electricity and tar road shall start. “When we come back, we will be telling you exactly when the road is going to start with the construction, we will be telling when the electricity will start for electrifying”, Lebea said. With the issue of water, he said that Vhembe District Municipality will come and tell the community about extensions for reticulation.

The residents returned to the strike again today after the memorandum that they gave to the municipality mayor, Shadrak Maluleke, in March 2026 was not responded to.

Pfukani Olifantshoek Community Group chairperson, Vusi Mdaka, said: “We are very disappointed with the mayor. We gave him fourteen days to respond to the memorandum, but he did not.”
